CONGRATULATIONS - 2009 NCHA Futurity
Jamie Goertz and Desires Prissy Cat
2009 NCHA Futurity - Amatuer Co-Champions
The mare, who colicked the night before the finals. The mare was in top form for the finals, however, thanks to the efforts of trainer Eddie Flynn, who stayed up with her until 4 a.m.

Desires Prissy Cat certainly arrived on the scene with all the right makings of a top cutting horse. First of all, her sire is the unstoppable High Brow Cat, the industry’s leading sire of cutting horses. Along with that is her dam, Desire Some Freckles, a 1995 mare who earned $210,050 during her days as a show horse. She and Alabama trainer Sam Shepard made the Open semifinals precisely 11 years ago at the 1998 NCHA Futurity.

As a producer, Desire Some Freckles has eight foals that have cut their way to close to a half-million in winnings. Her top performers are: Desires Little Rex, 2004 Smart Little Lena stallion ($280,704); Desires Katrina, 2005 High Brow Cat mare ($72,790); and Desires Rey, 2003 Dual Rey mare ($37,399). Desires Little Rex is the stallion, owned by Jerry Durant, who Bubba Matlock rode to Reserve at the 2007 NCHA Futurity with a 222.5 score in the finals along with second place in the Classic/Challenge at the 2009 NCHA Super Stakes.
